el nies, tijuana, border, la linea

Why is it so hard to reach out?

This work is photograph of a 8 meter long banner placed on the border between Mexico and USA. The border is a huge steel barrier designated to prevent illegal immigration into the US and it is supervised by cameras and patrolling guards on the US-side.

El nies in Spanish means pereneum but the expression is also used to describe something that is in between, something not defined or simply something that is nothing. The banner was hung on the Mexican side of the border just by the highway outside the international airport in Tijuana the 9th of October 2008.
